Ok, last month my phone was cut off becuase I was running behind on some bills .. and since I have a cell phone also, I just let my phone bill go unpaid ... so of course, it was disconnected. Anyways, I turned it back on about a week ago and all was good. Yesterday when I got home from work I had a phone bill waiting on me.. not one, but two! So, I opened the bills and looked them over. They were MAILED on September 23rd, 2004. In bold letters about half way down the first bill I see Total Due Now: $100.05 This confused me, seeing that I just paid my bill a week ago, and had not had service for a month. So, I proceed to open the next bill... It also was MAILED on September 23rd, 2004 .. This notice was telling me that they had pro-rated my bill since I did not have service for a full month..so my total was only $51.63, anyways I continue reading and it says DUE SEPTEMBER 21st, 2004. Confused as hell because my bill wasn't mailed until TWO days AFTER it was due... weird huh? So, I called Bellsouth ... went through the 900 menus and sub-menus and finally talked to a real person ... a MIRACLE! I tell them the whole spew and they say 'Sir, regardless of when it was billed, it was still due on the 21st' I continued to ask how was I supposed to know if it was MAILED TWO DAYS AFTER IT WAS DUE! They guy got frustrated with me and let me talk to his supervisor ... and we got things worked out from there ..
After about 30 minutes on the phone with BellSouth, they tell me to just pay it by the first of October and everything will be fine and caught up. So, I agreed to that and everything is good now .. just thought I would rant about how dumb businesses can be sometimes.
